Tuesday late afternoon I spotted an unusual bird at Plantation Preserve. It had the body shape and size of a goose. Its breast and neck was a light grey, its back was brown and its tail was dark. It had white under the wings, dark eye rings and a very dark circular patch on its lower chest. It was walking along the grass. Today I spotted a group of similar birds in a lake next to Woodmont Golf Course. It appeared to be a breeding pair with 5 juveniles! The brown on the wings and eye rings seemed to be a bit more reddish than the one on Tuesday. I saw the posts about the Snow Goose at Cutler Wetlands and Googled for some images. The pictures did not look like what I saw -- unless this is a seasonal morph? Please help!
