If you are thinking that heat and humidity will cut down on the walkers, think again ;( The hours that we are interested in for birding are also comfortable for the hoardes of walkers.

Last year, two of the "shy and elusive" limpkii mated right in front of us, about 4 feet away on the railing of the boardwalk at Green Cay. It is just amazing how tame they have become and how they have moved away from the swamps into our backyards. I can remember even 10 years ago how excited I was to find one at Corkscrew, and now I am serenaded by their screams daily on campus and along the canals driving home.
