I think the confusion about its behavior is a matter of what species are being compared. Common Yellowthroat is easier to see than a Mourning Warbler or Ovenbird and Orange-crowned feeds lower than a Yellow or a Tennessee, but that doesn't tell you anything about how they compare to each other. Orange-crowned Warbler is not a "ground-dwelling warbler", it's more of a mid-story feeder. It spends its time a little lower down than many warblers, but not the "ground-dwelling warblers". Other key differences to note are this birds chunky pink legs, and bill size/shape. Orange-crowned has slender dark legs and a more slender, sharply pointed bill. It's also a more slender bird than a yellowthroat. Also note the wren-like posture your bird exhibits in several of the photos. This is typical of yellowthroats, but not Orange-crowned.
