Need I.D. help on possible Hummingbird (not Ruby-Throated)

I saw at 0715 this a.m. a bird perched on my Beautyberry shrub I believe a Hummer. It was standing on bare branches back lighting provided by the sunrise. It was remarkably solid in coloring mostly gray. There were no markings except a about 1/8 inch band of white around the base of the neck not complete, only on the side of the neck. The bill was very straight, black slightly broader at the base than tip. Length of bill was slightly longer or same length as distance from the base of the bill to the back of the head. It was about four inches in total length.
