The Northern Cardinal may be a common bird but that doesn't take away from the fact it is a very beautiful bird! Like you, I am so pleased to finally have a pair of Cardinals visit my feeders. For years I have been hoping to attract them on a regular basis but not with good results. The last couple of months I think the tide has turned. I am thinking the difficulty in my case is the relative lack of canopy and shrubs in my neighborhood as compared to surrounding areas. The other day on my backyard tube-feeder a male Painted Bunting was feeding on one side, while the male Cardinal was on the other. It was a sight to behold!
