How exciting you are getting the pair of Painted Buntings! About 2-3 years ago I was getting a pair at my bird feeders but the last couple of years I have seen only the male. I guess something might have happened to the female. This morning I almost missed getting the bird due to a prowling cat. The bunting comes every day at exactly 7:o5 a.m. like clockwork but the cat arrived instead! I charged outside in a flash and sqirted him with the hose. It just leisurely jumped to the topped of the fence, so I'm sure it will be back. Luckily the bunted wasns't frightened away and returned as so as I went back inside (in all it's brilliant glory). I' ready to trap a cat!
