angel and mariel, while i disagree on our basic premise, i enjoy your's [and everyone else's posts] and certainly respect everyone's opinions on this subject. i am not calling on anyone to take any action. i am just one man who is outside much of the day and has a front row seat to what a cooper's hawk does. they eat birds, every day. the fact i don't completely buy in to the dogma of how wonderful these guys are is just my opinion. i may comment from time to time, but i've been doing this [birdwatching in south florida] for over 40 years. i called rock out to hear what he had to say, i knew he was some sort of pro, he was a daily force on this board a couple of years ago. although he didn't think the damage was permanent, i believe he does understand the impact they can have on a small area. i go look at the ani's as often as i can, they are very close. if they were at my farm, they would be dead. i see cooper's eating songbirds every week, i've seen them eat shrikes, a screech owl and killdeer. trust me, they are not picky. again, no disrespect intended. just consider what i'm saying. best to you, kd
