The park has recently lost some of it's native trees around the nature center, these trees hold birds and give them cover from predators.
The COHA idea again? come on... The COHA is not exactly going to waste it's energy trying to catch a little 4 oz. warbler, thats like us trying to fill our belly with a saltine cracker. Predator/Prey dynamics as Rock wrote earlier this month explains alot about this topic. The most reasonable guess as why the birds are gone and you are right the answer is right in front of us lots of trees have been removed from the area. When we saw that they removed F. Trema we asked ourselves why? And why the Pines? Well sometimes a non-scientific approach to park management leads to the disappearance of birds and other wildlife in our parks. The fragmentation of habitat has alot to do with the reason that some bird species are missing from the puzzle. As far as the COHA we should all be extremely happy that we are seeing so many raptors today, lots of them almost had no chance because of us humans. So lay off these awesome predators and think hard about why the birds are not here. Due to the lack of suitable habitat and poorly planned park improvements these birds have a hard time finding food and shelter. So this leads to the birds having to move on to find better habitat with both shelter and food. Good luck with your farm we are all sure that a new population of birds will arise and make your farm as fruitful as it once was.

Nature is Awesome
