I sent this to someone this morning. They were asking about Cutler Wetland. Below is the text and I have added a map of the area. Hope it helps...

I have never felt unsafe in the area. There is some low income housing just to the east of US 1 on 216th Street, but I haven t ever felt unsafe.

The Cutler Wetland area is just south of some of South Dade s nicest neighborhoods. The ducks could be in one of about 3 places, Cutler Wetland, Lennar Flow-way or Dump Marsh. The Eurasian Wigeon disappeared from reports for several days, but that may have been due to them being behind grass in the wetland or they may have found another pond to frequent. Check all the bodies of water you can see in the area if you don t find the birds where you expect to see them.

Take the Turnpike Homestead Extension to 216th Street, Exit and go east

Take 216th Street up to Old Cutler Road and turn South (Right)

Go to the first light and turn East (Left) onto SW 224th Street

As soon as you are past the apartments on your right you will see Cutler Wetland

The shoulders on the road are fairly solid if it hasn t been raining and if you look closely you can see some shell drives adjacent to Cutler Wetland

If you continue down the road to the corner and turn right onto 97th ave. you can check out the wetlands from the east side.

To get to Lennar Flow-way go down 97th Ave till you see the water treatment plant on your left. Turn there onto SW 232nd Street

Go down about midway and you will see a drive and a gate on your left. This is where we gain access to Lennar Flow-way.

To get to Dump Marsh go back to 97th Ave and go south and keep going across the canal to the dirt road and turn Left.

Continue down the dirt road to the gate and park on the right side close to the fence and walk through the gate to check the ponds to the East of the small plant. There is also a couple of ponds behind the plant to check also.

You will need a scope to make sure you are able to ID all the birds at these locations. You may be able to ID them with Binoculars, but if they are too far away you will be out of luck.

Good Luck!
