ATTENTION ALL LOCAL AUDUBON MEMBERS:

In the past 2 weeks we have birded Barnes and noticed many native trees have been removed around the Nature Center and surrounding areas that our resident and migrant birds love. Since the trees and bushes have been removed we have noticed a significant difference in the amount of birds being found in the area. We have not seen any Buntings, Warblers or Cardinals around the nature center area that we have seen on many past visits to AD Barnes on a weekly basis.

It was brought to our attention today by Toe that the park is planning on cutting back even more of the native trees all along the nature trail for aesthetic appearance. AD Barnes desperately needs all the local birders help in relaying the message to our Mayor Carlos Alvarez & Commissioner Rebeca Sosa that many resident and migrant birds rely on this park for all of the trees along the nature trail as do the birding community that visits the park weekly.

Please help Barnes before it is too late and contact our Mayor Carlos Alvarez at 305-375-5071 email: mayor@miamidade.gov & Commissioner Rebeca Sosa 305-375-5696 email: district6@miamidade.gov.

The more Audubon members that speak up and make them aware that this park is a migrant & resident trap for our beloved birds requesting them to keep all the native trees that our birds and birders love and regularly visit this park for.

We appreciate all fellow Audubon members help and so do all the beautiful birds!

Help keep Nature Awesome at Barnes!
Angel & Mariel
