The strong NE winds are pushing interesting birds fairly close to shore. Yesterday afternoon there was a parade of adult Northern Gannets in 2's and 3's. This morning single jaegers are flying small arcs as they head south. The salt spray and distance makes accurate ID impossible. I saw several flocks of dark sea ducks and one flock of 17 was close enough to ID as Black Scoters. There were 2 males and the facial patterns of females was easily seen.

Toe called and has some goodies to report from his early morning sea watch at Crandon.

Yesterday in Cape Florida we had a surprise attack of Black-throated Blue Warblers. We estimate 350-400 (not a typo) within the northern hammock area between the Pond Trail and bike path. Other warblers, cuckoos and buntings were also mixed in. Only 1 Gray-cheeked Thrush was seen.
