The ones you are describing sound like Rufous Hummingbirds, which are occasionally found in Florida ( very common out west in many states). The usual hummers here are the ruby-throated , which is the typical Eastern US hummingbird. Upon occasion, we also have the black chinned, which is also a western hummer and a close relative of the ruby throat.
