Trey Mitchell, Steve Siegel, and I were down at Boot Key this morning. Although we saw close to 200 raptors by 10am, there was no Black Kite among them. Maybe it had already crossed the 7-mile bridge yesterday.
I did see in-camera photos of the kite later at the hawkwatch. Although I'd like to see it on a computer screen, it did look like a kite, and it didn't look like one of ours (or even neotropical). It was with some Broad-winged Hawks which allows size comparison (the kite was bigger, but not as big as a Red Kite, except maybe the Cape Verde race).
