Hi Everyone,

Today I dropped off Mariel at work and made my way to Barnes to check out the scene and see if anything new showed up. I saw all the usual suspects with only one (FOS) Ruby-throated Hummingbird. It was not to hot and a cool breeze blowing every once in a while was quite nice. I heard a Cooper's Hawk call so I came out of the trail towards the feeders where I located the "cooper's hawk" mimic...a Blue Jay was perched calling loudly and tricked me into walking about 200 feet to get a closer look at what I thought was the Cooper's Hawk. Awesome moment because I have heard Blue Jay mimic other hawks but never a Cooper's Hawk so clearly fooled me. I was lucky enough to capture it on tape. The park had a good number of birds and kept me busy for about 3 hours.
Here is what I saw...

1 Painted Bunting (beautiful male)
...to the right of the trailer next to the parking lot)

1 Tufted Titmouse
15 Blue-gray Gnatcatcher
1 Yellow-throated Warbler
3 Northern Parula
2 Black-throated Blue Warbler (1 Male & 1 Female)
8 Red-eyed Vireo
6 Prairie Warbler
3 American Redstart (all female)
2 Ovenbird
3 Ruby-throated Hummingbird
2 Red-bellied Woodpecker
8 Blue Jay
1 Gray Kingbird
4 Mockingbird
5 Cardinal
10 Eurasian Collared Dove
2 Hill Myna (flying overhead)
1 Flycatcher Emphidonax (possible Least)
1 Belted Kingfisher

Not bad for a short bird.

Angel
