Sorry for the late post, but I felt compelled to update the Glaucous Gull reports. On Saturday morning, February 24 several birders heard (strike three for me) but did not see the MacGillivray's Warbler at Fern Forest. We then proceeded to the lake just north of the Pompano Beach Landfill in search of the Glaucous Gull. We arrived about 10:30 a.m. with maybe a hundred gulls on the lake. They soon began a mass fly-in from the landfill. The Glaucous made its' grand entrance about 11:00 a.m. providing excellent views for our small group, which included my lovely wife Pam, Bob Henderson from Tallahassee, et al. The lake is on the west side of Powerline Rd. a little north of the landfill entrance (Green Rd.) about 1.2 miles north of Sample Rd. Park in the small lot next to United Rentals and Supermix Concrete. Scope the gulls from the north side of the white concrete fence. Feeling lucky we then proceeded to look for Smooth-billed Ani's on the south side of Hollywood-Ft. Lauderdale International Airport. Take I-95 to the Griffin Rd. exit and go east. You will immediately see a linear park on your left beween Griffin Rd. and the perimiter road south of the airport. After about 20 minutes Four Anis were seen in the 3 ft. high Cocoplum hedge along the airport fence. Look closely as they become deeply immersed in the greenery. They would hop to the fence or to the ground on several occasions. A Loggerhead Shrike seemed to be following the action from atop the fence in total amusement. Turn left into the park at N.W. 10th St. There is plenty of parking.

Life is good.........
