Toe and I lead a spur of the moment trip up to the Sod Farms with a visitor Bonnie from DC, Paul B., Alex, Tricia and her sister. It was HOT!!!!.

Paul actually led most of the trip but wanted us to be called the leaders in case the trip bombed. We had a great time except for the heat.

Around noon we were there when the Curlew Sandpiper was spotted. We ran over to where the bird was seen and scanned the field for hours with out any luck. The birds did fly while we were on our way over to the spot. Some landed in the field again other moved on. We continued on our trip picking up the couple of year birds we were hoping for and returned to the Curlew spot for one more look, but nothing....

Here is a quick list: (I'm sure I'll miss something)

Yellow Warbler
Yellow-billed Cuckoo
Red-eyed Vireo
White-eyed Vireo
Northern Shrike
Grey Kingbird
Eastern Kingbird
Great Crested Flycatcher
Louisiana Water Thrush
RWBB
Brown-headed Cowbirds
Common Grackle
White-tailed Kite
Black-necked Stilts
Pectoral Sandpipers
Least Sandpiper
Western Sandpiper
Semipalmated Sandpiper

Short-billed Dowitcher
Wilson's Phalarope
American Avocet
Solitary Sandpiper
Spotted Sandpiper
Ruddy Turnstone
Spoonbills
Wood Storks
White Pelican
most all the Waders...

Not a good day for photography, but I still took a few photos.
