Hi A&M,
Black Skimmers regularly occur far inland in certain areas of the southern half of the peninsula. A flock of about 1000 winters annually along the NW side of Lake Okeechobee, and skimmers have bred in the Everglades Agricultural Area in years past.
In the central peninsula, dozens to hundreds of skimmers are regular in the Polk County phosphate mines and around Lake Apopka.
