Toe, There was a Flamingo that was present for quite some time in Tampa Bay a while back, and it was not considered wild. Perhaps you haven't been birding long enough to remember that one? Are you so synical you can't accept how this game works? Are you going to save the birding world from this horrible practice of holding rarities to a higher scrutiny/standard?

Of course Flamingoes can arrive in the Miami area on thier own. They can also have originated from a number of local sources. Why can't you just let people enjoy the bird, and if you want to count it, count it? It's not a review species in FL, so what's the big deal? Trying to determine it's origin and doing the research is great! Being sarcastic while you do so only stands to undermine your efforts. Sorry, but wild until proven otherwise is not the present standard anywhere that is serious about birding with any shred of credibility. It can certainly be in your own circle of friends, though.
