Hello. We have been offshore fishing out of the St. Lucie Inlet throughout the week of June 18th. Never before have we been plagued by these birds! We would see them scattered about, floating on the water. From afar, they looked like bouys. As soon as we got our baits out, word went out and all of a sudden we had about 2 dozen gulls behind the boat attacking the bait! And they weren't picky about dead or artificial baits! We switched to all artificial baits and still they attacked. We even tried tossing them some cut bait and running further offshore but that didn't work either. It didn't matter how far or deep we were, the birds were there. We switched from trolling to bottom fishing and the gulls would dive under the water to get our bait! Needless to say these birds created a miserable fishing experience. I hope they will have returned home by the time we get back in July.
