I , too have parrots as pets ( Senegal and meyers).
I would be willing to bet someone tried to catch these macaws.
Macaws probably don't do the damage that the quakers have a reputation for, so they are probably OK. Even with the quakers, I understand there are some horrendous things the power companies do when the birds nest in the power lines.
