Following a Miami Herald piece about the blue and golds (if I had known about it I would have advised them not to put in the location) a pair were poached in Coco Plum. The owners of the property with the nesting pair also caught a guy trying to get to the nest and the male disappeared. The birder John Rappole who wrote" A guide to the Birds of the Southeastern States" puts parrots in because they are established here, raising chicks. It would be a shame if the flock disappeared. Macaws are majestic flying. I have 5 as pets ( my daughter is a vet and keeps giving me unwanted ones) and let them free. The wild ones "visit" every once in a while. The nest in the Barrosa (sp?) at Fairchild got knocked in Wilma.
