Steve,

I'm disappointed in your post. You know me better than that. I'm also disappointed that you would support such an unbelievable report as singing Vermilion Flycatchers in West Palm Beach in June with no description provided whatsoever.

(And please everybody, keep in mind that I'm not saying that the birds are positively not Vermilion Flycatchers (although I certainly doubt that they are). Rather, I'm saying that ____without documentation____, such an incredible report cannot be accepted).

I have seen a flock of female Boat-tailed Grackles feeding on a freshwater mudflat at Myakka River State Park "identified" as Mangrove Cuckoos.

There is no such thing as an unmistakable bird.

I'm sure you would be skeptical if the birds were reported to be Ivory-billed Woodpeckers. Or if somebody reported Carolina Parakeets at their nests at Fair Haven Nusring Home.

Why then am I wrong to question three Vermilion Flycatchers (including two singing males!) in suburban southeast Florida during June?

I stand by my assertion that the birds are extremely unlikley to be Vermilion Flycatchers.

And I have never called anybody names. (Usually, I'm the one who get called names.)

Want to prove me wrong? Take a photo.

I'm not being critical, I'm just saying, hey let's take a look at this report before it becomes universally accepted.

There is so much bird misinformation on the Internet that if let unchecked, would destroy field ornithology. And sometimes, I can't let such reports go without a comment.

Best regards,
