I was thinking summer tanager. The distinctive black wings and "fluffed" head of a flycatcher and size would do it for me, though. I think one is called the parrot finch ( really gorgeous bird, I would have to get the book out).
Is there a possibility this is and exotic? There are finches that have red on them.
Just a thought.
