I have a friend who is quite an accomplished amature photographer. He uses the Canon D20 and a Canon 100-400mm with the imiage stabalization. He swears by it. I seen a lot of his work and it is great. He has done a number of garden shows and other presentations for the local Audubon society chapter.
Just my two cents worth.
No real rare birds being seen in this area at the time. My best bird for the last month was a Black-backed Woodpecker. Hadn't seen one in 19 year.Most of them are very difficult to see. This pair happens to be able to be seen right off I-90 about 60-70 east of Seattle.
