Dear Fellow birders,

I am the conservation chair of Broward County Audubon Society, and have been involved for quite some time fighting the Airport Expansion battle at Ft lauderdale Airport. We found out today that smooth billed anis are routinely spotted just south of the Airport, and if any expansion is approved, their habitat will be destroyed.

I am preparing our comments on the Draft EIS to the FAA,and could really use some help from you all raegrding the following:

1) For what period of tiem have they been noted? I see postings as far back as 2003.

2) Approximately how many Anis are there - or seen at any given time? Are they seasonal or Residential? are they nesting there_ any evidence of nests?

3) Do they have a particular type of habitat they prefer? and whay is the habitat near the airport where they are sighted unique?

3) How many Anis are approximated to exist in Florida? In the world? My understanding is that the numbers are dwindling drastically - and they are being consdiered for listing status

4) If you coudl provide phots taken of them at the site near the Airport, this woudl eb greatly appreciated.

Lastly, if you have seen additional endangered or threatened species near the Airport, please provide information on this.

You help is greatly appreciated and will help protect this species.
