As I understand it, only the Australian Pines are going to be removed because they are prone to blowing over and taking large sections of bank with them. This can lead to erosion possibly endangering gravesites and family crypts. The wishes of birdwatchers have little sway with the department in charge of maintaining Ft. Lauderdales cemeteries. We can only hope that the work is done carefully with a minimum of collateral damage.
