Hey Alex,
It may be an escapee but cetainly not from Simbad's.They don't have much of a small bird selection.
Having been an aviculturist much longer than I have been a birder ,I've been thru a whole heap of bird shops in this area, but still have never encountered a house finch.Not to say they aren't out there in stores, I just haven't seen one.
However those nutmeg mannikins (that I still call spice finches)at Sadowski, those guys are everywhere in pet stores.
