The Purple Swamphen location to which you refer is spelled Wakodahatchee. You may be confusing that location with the nearby Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge.
By the way, if you visit Stormwater Treatment Area 5 in Hendry County, you're likely to see MANY Purple Swamphens. For details on STA tours, see http://tropicalaudubon.org/sta.html Next STA-5 tour is April 7.
