The banded bluebird you saw, assuming it was a male, is most likely black/aluminum: red/white (left to right), and was banded as a nestling in 2001 in a territory along research road. He had a territory just east of the campground the last two years. Was he with an unbanded female? At least three pairs of bluebirds include the campground in their breeding territories, which they are currently sorting out. They should start selecting cavities next week.

I'm also curious where exactly you saw the nuthatches, because the campground pairs have been very elusive so far this season.
