Many birders forget that state record committees are NOT in the business of informing birders what bird species they can add or not add on thier private lists. Record Committees are in the business of voting on bird records submitted to them and also maintain the state list.

So if Vince and others want to count the kingbird as a Loggerhead Kingbird you can if you want and that is your right to do so but if you keep a list and play by the ABA listing rules then you have to wait till these committees vote on the Loggerhead Kingbird.

State record committees are all different and vote different. For example I had a Long-tailed Jaeger accpeted in Wisconsin and the same individual rejected by the Minn. Records Committee. The LT Jaeger flew into one state from another state. This same thing also happen with a Pomarine Jaeger record!

Bill is right and you need to swallow a lot of pride and keep the head up when your record is turned down but so far in my 30+ years of submitting records I only had 2 records voted down.
