A dark phase red-tailed hawk is back again this winter. I have seen this hawk a few times the past couple of winters, usually somewhere in the vicinity of Old Cutler Road or South Miami. This year I saw it last week, Thursday maybe, along Old Cutler near the Deering Estate. Pretty sure I caught a hint of reddish tones coming through the backlit tail as it circled. I imagine it's the same individual, but who knows for sure?
