I observed 1 Brown-headed Nuthatch in the pinelands on the exit trail at Corkscrew. It came out of very small, probably Downy hole in a dead Slash Pine with 2 large Pileated holes. The small hole faced the building. The dead tree was on left side of the trail about 10-15 yards from the boardwalk as you faced the building. It was honking and easily heard. I have been going to Corkscrew for 30 years and although it is a perfect habitat for it, I have never observed them there.
