My yard is full of them. This year, I have had as many as six Painted Buntings at one time on a feeder. Last year I had nine at one time on or near two different feeders. There are more females than males. The secret is to have your feeder near bushes for them to go into and also have a bird bath for water close by. They will eat at any feeder (I currently have four out). I have a caged feeder that is a distance from the rest, and they like that one because the bigger birds are at the other feeders. I just use the seed that I get at Walmart.
