Check the band again, because there should be 9 digits total - a row of 4 numbers over a row of 5. I would then report it to the Bird Lab at Patuxent. There are many banding locations in the southeastern U.S. that capture yellow-rumps, so yours could have come from any one of them.

I hope the little guy (or girl) survives.
