I just came back from visiting relatives in Alexandria, Virginia. I saw some cool birds in their backyard (cool for a Miamian) similar to the ones you saw. It was very cold so I probably was in the backyard for a total of 30 minites. Saw the following:
Tufted Titmouse (lifer for me)
Carolina Chickadee
Brown Creeper
Red-Belled Woodpecker
Yellow-Bellied Sapsucker
Downy Woodpecker (very common)
Canada Geese (flying overhead)
House Finch
White-Throated Sparrow
House Sparrow
Starling
Cardinal (seems lighter red than the Miami ones)
Blue-Jay
American Crow
Bald Eagle (lifer, was very excited by this one)
Ruby-Crowned Kinglet (lifer)
White-Breasted Nuthatch
Mourning Dove
Turkey Vulture
Robin
Herring Gull
I love Miami but it was good to go somewhere else for some variety.
