One more interesting sighting was an orchid bee, Euglossa viridissima. It was spotted while viewing gulls near the Pomano landfill. This neotropical bee has recently come to south Florida. It is currently mainly in Broward, but is expected to spread.

I've linked an article from the Herald about the orchid bee.
