I'm still looking for an answer to the question about who the definitive authority is on bird ID. Whose book trumps all the rest.

Maybe it's not a book but individual written studies.

Inquiring minds want to know...

By the way, so far I have changed my mind twice. I first thought it was a Nelson's then I thought it was a Salt Marsh until I realized the documentation on identification wasn't consistent. No I think it is a Nelson's.

I am still open to changing my mind again, but only when someone answers the authority question. :D
