The second nights sleep was not as rough as the first. Maybe that was because we were lulled to bed by two Great-horned Owls. Or perhaps because we were all so darn tired. We woke up and hit a few other spots and as the birds started waking up we headed to look for the Brown-crested Flycatcher. This bird was reported at the very beginning of where Research Road cuts directly west. Go to the fifth power pole down and park. The bird has been in this area, but not that day. We settled with a very cooperative Barred Owl, and two American Crows that wanted it gone. We headed down to Lucky Hammock where we met with the Tropical Audubon walk.

Lucky Hammock-
Great Crested Flycatcher
White-eyed Vireo
House Wren
Brown Thrasher
Prairie Warbler
Palm Warbler
Common Yellowthroat
Savannah Sparrow
Grasshopper Sparrow
Clay-colored Sparrow

Winery and Larry's house-
Ruby-throated Hummingbird
Western Kingbird
No Shiny Cowbird

Rushed back to the Annex-
White-eyed Vireo
Carolina Wren
House Wren
American Robin
Yellow-rumped Warbler
Palm Warbler
Prairie Warbler
Magnolia Warbler
American Redstart
Common Yellowthroat

Research Road-
Short-tailed Hawk
Brown-headed Nuthatch
Pine Warbler
Prairie Warbler

Denny's in Florida City-
Common Myna- many

Hialeah, at NW 57 Avenue and about 105 street-
Common Myna
Bronzed Cowbird

I was very happy with the trip. And between the four of us, we were able to come up with 150 species just on the fifth! The only misses really were Swainson's Hawk, White-crowned Pigeon, Lesser Nighthawk, Bell's Vireo, and Shiny Cowbird. Oh and we missed Skunk Ape, which really disappointed the visiting Ohio birders. I usually see four or five out there. I don't think there is anything better than watching a whole family of the little critters frolicking in the wet prairie. Even though the trip was great, it wasn't complete without a Skunk Ape sighting.

Hope you enjoyed a rather long ENP report.
Alex
