I have to agree with Ed. I don't see the bill color as being that much of a factor, it probably is the lighting that's causing it to look dark overall(I'm seeing a relatively darker tip). The head shape and bill size do NOT make it look like a Lesser Scaup (in the photo), but like a Greater Scaup instead. Unfortunately, there is only one photo being shown of this bird and we all KNOW how one photo can cause quite a bit of confusion, at times.
Lesser Scaup are not a big deal down in south FL, but a Greater Scaup, on the other hand, IS definitely a good bird that far south.
