A great deterrent is a product called SCATTTT!!! it is a motion sensored devisce that emits a loud horn sound along with a nontoxic spray that will scare the cat away. It has proven highly effective for the cats around our home as well as those at my mom's. small enough to be placed anywhere. available online at Fosters & Smiths.com
