I went to the Boynton Beach Inlet today and found a Great Black Backed Gull sitting amongst some Laughing Gulls and Herring Gulls. This is a first for me, and am curious as to whether this is an uncommon sighting in S. Fla. It was unmistakably huge, with a very dark back and pink legs, but the spot on its lower bill was black, as opposed to red. Could I be mistaking this bird for another species?
