According to Robertson & Woolfenden (1992) and Stevenson & Anderson (1994), a pair was seen on Virginia Key ~1973 and not considered breeding. A single bird was seen ~1976 in Brevard County. Again, all of these birds are provenance unknown. Wally George and Mickey Wheeler told me that a bird was seen off-and-on throughout the 1980's. I have heard that a juvenile was also reported, but I have no details. Perhaps other Bird Board readers can furnish more history on this beautiful bird.
