We did have at least one expert birder (Brian), and he humbly ID'd it as an Eared. I've not seen it in person, but if in fact it is an Eared, I will try this Saturday. I've heard some valid comments for either species, but from the photos, I'm still leaning towards Eared myself, IMHO. (not to se confused with DHMO: dihydrogen monoxide, that all-too common compound and one of the most toxic substances known to exist)
