I think calling this bird a Horned Grebe makes perfect sense. All you have to ignore is the head shape, the face pattern, the bill shape, the bill color, the swimming posture, and the habitat.
While this id can be difficult under less than ideal field conditions (I've spent lots of time trying to turn Horneds into Eareds back in New England during the winter), further debate on this bird given the quality of the photographs is nothing short of bizarre.
