Eared Grebe

Believe it or not, there is still some debate whether the bird at Green Cay is an Eared or a Horned Grebe. Hey, that's okay, it makes birding all the more fun. Some folks think the bird at Green Cay is a Horned in transitional plumage. Now, I myself have not seen the bird (Trey, we better go soon), and I do realize that photos can be somewhat deceiving (that's exactly my point about Scott's third photo). But, a photo can also speak a thousand words...

The photographer of the above Eared Grebe, Garth McElroy, has other photos of this species (different angles) posted on the website, you can google it. This photo may as well have been Scott's fourth of the Green Cay bird. Now if anyone thinks that the bird in the link photo is also a Horned Grebe, well then that's between you and Garth.
