The same thing occurs over here in Naples and I think it's more than a coincidence that I witnessed the same phenomenon this week as well. There were hundreds of Wood Storks, Great & Snowy Egrets, Tricolored, Great Blue & Little Blue herons as well as both Ibis etc. around this one large manmade lake in the Vineyards megadevelopment down the street from where I live. I've seen this phenomenon a few times in years past. Perhaps its an indication of scarcity of food? That's my best guess. Anyone?
