The most interesting birds seen during a visit to Lucky Hammock and Royal Palm Hammock today were Bell s Vireo, Yellow-breasted Chats, Tennessee Warbler, Yellow-throated Vireos, and Hermit Thrush.

With a little bit of help I was able to spot the Bell s Vireo on the east side of the brushy area across the road from Lucky Hammock a little over a hundred yards north of the cross through. At least seven Yellow-breasted Chats could be heard calling from the brushy area south of the cross through but only one popped briefly into view. About five Grasshopper and twenty Savannah Sparrows along with my FOTS Yellow-rumped Warbler were also seen in this area. About eleven Sandhill Cranes were in the fields south of the hammock and both light and dark morph Short-tailed Hawks joined the rather large vulture kettle that formed over the area later that morning.

At Royal Palm Hammock a Tennessee Warbler was seen in the large Strangler Fig south of the parking area and a my FOTS Hermit Thrush and a Yellow-throated Vireo were seen along the Old Ingraham Highway Trail. Another Yellow-throated Vireo and an adult male Black-throated Green Warbler were seen on Gumbo Limbo Trail.
