A light-phase Short-tailed Hawk was seen by me, as well as Patrick Cure's entire
8th grade Honors Earth Science class from Ruben Dario Middle School, durng our
visit this morning to Anhinga Trail at Everglades National Park. The hawk was first
spotted by one of the students, and circled only a hundred feet or so directly over
our heads.

I can't recall ever seeing a Short-tailed Hawk at Anhinga Trail in September, but then
again, I haven't spent a whole lot of time at Anhinga Trail in September. Not a
whole lot else around, though the students and I did see a few migrants (redstart,
b-t blue, a couple of ovenbirds) on the Gumbo Limbo Trail.
