: At least one pair of blue-and-yellow macaws roost in the royal palms separating the north- and south-bound lanes of U.S. 1 in Miami. I have seen them often opposite the University of Miami Metrorail stop. Could be the same birds. They are, of course, light on the breast and belly, as described.

: : On Sunday, September 22th, at 6:30 p.m., I was doing some yard work on Whitehead Street in Coconut Grove, which is near SW 27th Ave and US 1, when I heard the squawk of parrots. I looked in the direction of the noise and I saw a pair of large parrots with long pointed tails, heading east. As they were overhead, they turned and flew in a northwest direction. They appeared to be macaws, however, because of their height, the time of day and my color blindness, I was unable to make a positive identification. They were both light colored underneath, including the wings, tail and body. Does anyone know of macaws roosting in that area?

Thanks for the information. It might be the same pair.
