S. Dade & ENP 10/28: Another Bell's Vireo

Trey and I went into ENP and its surrounding hoping to find sparrows and other stuff. We started off at the end of Research Road before dawn and worked our way back. Not much down there, but we did have great looks at a Wilson's Snipe just south of where the road turns after the research center. In the pinelands we had Bluebirds and Nuthatches with a flock of Pine Warblers.

Trey was first to see he Bell's Vireo after we walked east on the dirt road from Lucky Hammock. The Bell's was just to the left after going through the gap leading to the next field east of Lucky (the sparrow spot). At the Annex we had killer looks at an adult Swainson's Hawk. We ended up at Cutler Wetlands, and are very happy to report that instead of the filthy, mucky, algae-riddled, pestilent pond of death it had been for months, the place was alive with shorebirds and ducks! Our only disappointment was that we didn't see a single sparrow. At least the first of the ducks have arrived.
